About the ProjectNahast is a mainly two things: Nahast is a webcomic: Well, duh you wouldn't be here otherwise. The webcomic is the first part of the whole Nahast project, and admittedly the most fun. It tells the story of a bunch of characters living in one of the most stable kingdoms in the world of Nahast, and how their actions (and inactions) may cause that stability to break down. Nahast is a campaign world: For those who play Dungeons & Dragons mainly, but for any fantasy Role-Playing Game, a campaign world is a big scenario where players put their characters and Game Masters run their stories. In this aspect, Nahast is meant to be that exotic land where strange things come from in any campaign world, that land beyond the sea, or beyond the wasting desert or simply beyond the horizon. We will be releasing little snippets of how the aspects of this world translate to the d20 system, the basis for Dungeons & Dragons and many other games. About the StoryDerrexi Tzelan, eldest daughter of one of Solerne's top Noble Houses, arrives to the city of Beldatz under orders from the Empress. Her mission, as she is aware of it, is to train a detachment of Hawk Maidens from the local girls in preparation for the Festival of New Dawn. What she does not know is that she is to be the wildcard in the political struggle that rocks the foundations of Beldatz between the Imperial envoys and the local Merchant Guild, a conflict that unbeknownst to its players, has a deep relationship to the spiritual well-being of the Empire. Derrexi will find many allies and foes, both hidden and in plain view, as she strives to understand herself and the nature of the gods of Nahast and their eternal war. You can browse the story scene by scene in the Archives page! About the AuthorSo... I'm bad at self-description so I'll keep this short. I am proud to say that I'm a writer by trade after several years of looking for the right job to keep me challenged, not to mention fed. I was born, raised and still living in Mexico, currently in the Largest City In The World, Mexico City. Having role-played since vewy, vewy young, I found my dreamjob early in 2002 writing for Mongoose Publishing but left on 2004 to pursue a career as a freelancer. I started drawing as a hobby since I had very little access to fantasy illustrations and hungered for visual input for the books I managed to read... which were not easy to find either, as I lived in a very small city as a child, with only two good bookstores. Likes: the fantastic genre, from fantasy to horror and science fiction. Animation from all around the world, although the japanese are the best at it. The usual: comics, music, videogames... but I also love a good anthropological study and The Discovery Channel is amongst the only things I see when I turn the TV. I hardly turn down a religious or political debate. Yes; I'm a geek :) Personal: You'll have to guess. I'm Aries in the greek horoscope, Ox in the Chinese and Crocodile (or Reed, depends on who you read) in the Aztec. I finally have my personal website up; pay a visit! :) Site MapThis site has several sections in the navigation bar just below the title : This takes you to the main page with the comic, tagboard, etc. : A description of the important characters in the comic's story, protagonists and support cast. : A general description of the world of Nahast, it's countries, empires, customs, gods, etc. This section is always under construction and constantly expanding, and ties directly to both the d20 rpg and online rpg sections. : All the past pages in the comic, organized by date, chapter and story arc. : A collection of art I've done over time related to Nahast; I have a separate gallery for all my other art here. : Goodies you can download to your computer; wallpapers (were formerly on the gallery), mp3s, and coming soon the PDFs for the d20 rpg. : The indispensible list of other webpages and resources I frequent, like or have something to do with Nahast. : Resources and rules systems to play the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game in the world of Nahast. : A direct link to the StoryCrafter site where you can sign up and role-play a story that runs parallel to that of the comic. : A discussion board to post more lengthy discussions and comments than what is possible in the tagboard. : For those familiar with news aggregators; keep track of Nahast's updates here! |
